a long post, my soul had a lot of words

That is why we always pray for you.
We ask our God to make you worthy of the life he has called you to live.
May he fulfill by his power all your desire for goodness and complete your work of faith.
In this way the name of our Lord Jesus will receive glory from you, and you from him, by the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I read these verses this morning and I thought that there was just something awesome and holy about them.

May he fulfill by his power all your desire for goodness and complete your work of faith.

I mean, you know how sometimes it just seems to hard to do the things you want to do? So you're just going to give up? Or it's just not going to work out, might as well stop trying?

I reckon this verse is saying something like, we have this desire to do good -- and in His power, may God use  it to do this God-thing. Let's face it, I'm just a girl who lives on this tiny little planet called Earth in this place called the Milky Way (oh dear I was about to ask if America had a different solar system) in this absolutely uncomprehendingly big universe.

It's kinda funny -- I imagine God, and yeah, there he is!
But I cannot see how big the universe is. How could I ever even imagine something like that? And here I think God is about as big as a building in the city.

space? it's a real place?

If that's a tiny segment of outerspace... then how does God even know that I exist, let alone hold my hand and actually care about what happens to me? How can He possibly locate the country I live on, let alone love me so much that He'd die for me?

I have to think about. I have to. Because it's too big to just nod and walk by.

Outside, those stars shine. They do. God made those stars.

And you know what? God made me. He really did. Why? And why does He love me so much?

This world, this life, it means so much more than we give it credit for. We're chosen, you know -- every single person on this planet. God actually decided that He wanted us to live. And when we stuff up, He wants us to crawl over to Him so He can cradle us in His arms.

Fine, let's go shopping. Let's buy new clothes. Because, face it, those coloured skinny jeans are what everyone's wearing these days. How much fun, to pick what colour you want! It's exciting. Really. I'm not being sarcastic.

I'm just sayin', when it comes down to it, when we look up at that sky that reminds me of a snow globe and isn't it cool that's God's holdin' us, that we're really, literally, in His hands? -- all that's gonna matter is that we love God. To love God? Somewhere in that I believe that it means to obey Him. To love people.

To do what God tells us, no matter how stupid we feel or think that maybe we should just do what those people over there are doing, because, quite frankly, they're a lot cooler than me.

To love God, is to give Him our heart. To surrender our lives. The whole of it. And devote all the moments of life to loving Jesus. In everything we do.

I reckon there's got to be something beautiful in that. Not just beautiful, but meaningful. Purposeful.

You know what? I think my perspective of God is changing. Something like a massive statue is what I imagined. But as I see more of the glorious wonders of this world -- sunrise's that are different every morning, people encouraging and loving and sincerly hoping; I'm beginning to see love. In all these different ways.

  1. Wow, Emii. I've had two different ideas for a post bouncing around in my head for the past couple of days, and you combined them both beautifully in this post! Have you been reading my mind or something?? (and, great, now my post is going to look like i'm copying you. :D)

Seriously, tho. This is amazing stuff - *God is amazing...and that verse, is nothing short of incredible.

...oh, and I just about cracked up reading your almost-question about America's solar system. ;)

  2. How I love your soul. It's so raw. And the way you poured your heart out in this post took my breath away.

I love how you stated that you were beginning to see love in so many different ways. I can relate. It is encouraging to know there are others out there learning the same lessons as yourself.

Our God's a big God and knowing that we are unique and original creations, with our own identity (which is what he knows us by) is, for a lack of a better term, wonderful!

    Love you, girl.

    Keep smiling and posting,
